LONG OVERDUE

Well it’s been a while, guess I’ll start with a month ago.

The Mrs. And I flew back East to visit some kin.

We flew into upstate NY to see my 93 year young Aunt. She is the last blood kin I have left from my Parents generation.

She is doin great. Made us grilled cheese and soup for lunch both days we were there.
Cooked a big supper one day and took us out the other night. She even had us go along to her Thursday morning Breakfast Club at the local greasy spoon.

I had never been there before. I think it was 1957 when they moved to this house.

Then we drove a rental car to the southern point of Maine. The Mrs has a sister, niece, and families there. They all live in the country in the Trees. I had never seen so many Trees, from upstate NY we drove due East for 400 miles and it was Trees the whole way. We were just a little early to see the leaves as they were just barely starting to turn.

I’d never been to the Atlantic Ocean , my first time WOO HOO !

We rode Amtrak to Boston one day and took a Tour Bus excursion. I'm not a history, or big city person.

Had a seafood feast put on by the In-laws

Shrimp on the Barbe, Steamers, Corn on the cobb, and Lobtsa. The shrimp was my favorite.

Anyway back home safe and sound.

ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES

Oh yeah that was a Movie that S1 loved as a youngin.

It's hitting home this year.

The Mrs is overwhelmed with everything coming out of the Gardens this year!




We netted the grapes as last year the birds got every concord the minute it started to change colors.
They never touched the green grapes, Birds must not see the color Green as being food.

Anyway the first batch of juice came out so SWEET and without adding any sugar, WE're not sharing with anyone !

BULLWINKLE

This week while doing some work on a cabin for a client Bullwinkle came by for a visit.

The radio was blareing a station of Pop music and he didn't seem to be bothered by the noise I was making, he probably couldn't even hear me because of it.





He sat down just a few feet away under a tree and chewed his cud all morning.

After lunch I was tired of the station and tuned in a Country one for the afternoon.
This didn't set well with Bullwinkle as he got up and left, but before he did, he gave this face to show me what he thinks of Country Music.

So last evening I got a call, it was from a Republican Party fund raiser.  He said that Mit needed My Money to help in 3 Swing States, all they wanted from me was $3 a day for the 90 days till the election.  That would guarantee his success in these Swing States, What the What!  They ought to do their homework first; We’re the 99%ers just barely keeping things together since Wall Street stole all our money and mortgages.  Why don’t they just hit up the 1%ers, they’ve most of the money anyway.  Just think how much time they would save making calls!

So the Mrs went to Idaho to visit her sister this weekend.
They get along pretty well, can really tear up the garage sale and thrift store scene !
The SIL did "Rendezvous" for many years and has carried it to the point of yard decor.

There is an Outside bedroom and bath.

The Pioneers would be Proud !

SCREAMING LIKE A LITTLE GIRL

Well the other evening I was layin on the bed watching Leno while the Mrs was getting ready for bed, AND out of nowhere there is a BAT circling the room, COOL.

Only it didn't  fly back out, it just kept going in a circle and after a few minutes it must have been getting tired as the circles started spiraling lower.  Well it was  diving low enough that I had to roll out of bed to get out of it's way. About then I was screaming like a little girl. There are 3 things I don't like closeup Bats, Rats, and Snakes.

Anyways it finally went back out into the kitchen so we closed all the doors and propped open the front and back doors. It finally landed on top of a bookcase in the living room to take a nap, so we just went to bed and haven't seen it since. It was a lot like this clip I found on U-tube, cept with more screaming !

Our house is over a century old so it does have a few holes, strange it doesn't happen more often. We have been here for almost 40 years and I can only remember it happening one other time long ago.

Bambi's Dad

We've had to chase this guy out of our garden the last two days, peas seem to be his favorite.

We may need to borrow a dog to keep him away, or does anyone like venison, I don't.

BONDED BY GREASE

Well Fathers Day came and went.

S3 and I bonded over repairing the Mrs' car.  Her throw out bearing was bad and she wouldn't drive it till it was fixed. Pulled the engine on Sunday and put it all back together on Monday.  He called in with car problems to get the day off, didn't tell them it was his Mom's car.
Anyway it's an OLD car but gets 40MPG, would have cost more to hire it done than car is worth.
Was only a 100 deadpres to do it ourselves and put in a new clutch and rear main while we had it apart.

Any way the Mrs is back in business, watch out DI she's on her way.


Oh yeah Fathers Day, S1/DIL stopped by with some special cupcakes.
S2 took us to the White Owl for lunch on the rooftop patio.
And we checked out the booths at SummerFest.

Postal FAIL

Well last weekend it was the letter-carriers food drive.
At S2's house that didn't happen.
Seemed to be a problem, Bee swarms, guess that wasn't covered in their oath.
Monday we called the animal control to ask for advice.
He sent over a bee keeper to get em, also was another swarm in the tree above.

Anyway the mailman returned but not in time to get the goods!

ANAL-MUCH

Well,I think I’ll try this venting to the whole universe thing.

You know the last thing the Mrsss. would call herself is a control freak, and for the most part that is true, but.

Yesterday was a nice warm day for March; it’s been warm for a few days, so this weekend I trimmed a couple apple trees and some shrubs.  I needed to cut up some of the larger stuff and needed the chainsaw so waited for Monday. Even though we don’t observe the Sabbath, I still would rather not fire up the saw in respect for others. So yesterday I cut the stuff up and loaded the larger pieces into the wheelbarrow and made a couple of trips to the woodpile. We burn a lot of wood since we have a potbelly stove, and our century+ old house isn’t easy to heat with the furnace. We have two types of wood in the pile, lumber scraps from work and limbs from all the trees on our large lot. Anywho I piled my limbs nicely on the side of the pile nearest the house.

Well when I went out to feed the Barn Cat I saw all the wood I stacked had been moved to the other side of the pile where other branches had been previously stacked. WTH isn’t firewood, FIREWOOD!

It’s just one of those things that eats on old people that you learn to deal with when you’re both too lazy tired to fight.

Anyway this Spring is shaping up to be much different than the last three years when we didn’t even get warm weather till mid-June when it went right to Summer.

Back to normal, that’s were Methuselah is, no more of this CRAP lately.

A friend said it was just a bladder infection and I guess he was right as it all passed.(get it!)

She’s been on her chair by the potbelly stove since we started firing it up last fall.

Ahh, a cat’s life !

Think that’s what I’ll come back as, who wouldn’t, you get Nine of em !
